Hello everyone! Spring is finally here. We're having a lot of rain here in the Montgomery County and I can't wait to see the flowers bloom. It has been a looong winter this year.. so I'm particularly excited for the weather to warm up so we can all go out to play! I've bought a star mold to make a star shape egg, but when its done, it turned out to look like a flower.. just the right time for spring.
Materials you'll need:
1. Star mold
2. A bowl of ice cold water
3. An egg
4. Cute face puncher
5. Seaweed
To prepare hard boiled eggs, you'll need a a saucepan large enough to hold them in single layers. Add cold water to cover eggs by 1 inch. (Note that you put the eggs in the pan with cold water, and not throw the eggs into hot boiling water - this will cause the eggs to crack!). Next, heat the water just to boiling, and turn off heat. Let the eggs stand in hot water for about 10-12 minutes (for large eggs, 15 minutes for extra large). Once the eggs are cooked, let them cool down a bit before peeling them. Be careful - if the eggs are still hot, you might want to run them with cold water first. The reason for putting an egg into the mold while it hot is because it is easier to be shaped. A hot egg when squeezed into the mold will take the shape of the mold. When you put the egg into the mold, make sure its in a standing position. This way, it will turn out to be a nice round shape. When you have the peeled egg placed in the mold, close the lid firmly and snap it tightly.
To keep the egg in shape, plunge it in icy cold water. You can add some ice if you like, but I use cold water that I keep in fridge.
In 5-10 minutes, when they're cool.. you have adorable shaped eggs! Now, slice the egg into half and punch some funny faces on the seaweed.
Stick the seaweed on the egg and there you go! They look like flowers (I think) ^ ^
